Special Invitation

The "Special Invitation" category introduces unique and richly varied movies, not confined to the genre of "comedy", including Japanese films soon to be released, major and much- discussed foreign films. At this year's event, a total of four much-discussed movies, two Japanese and two foreign, will be shown. Ahead of the premiere, they will be screened at the Okinawa International Movie Festival.

"Oh! Father" is a movie version of a novel by the popular novelist Kotaro Isaka. The film jauntily depicts a high-school student who has four fathers getting embroiled in a completely unexpected matter. For the leading actor Masaki Okada, this is the second Isaka novel that he played a role in following the appearance in "A Pierrot".

"Sambun-no-ichi (One Third)" is the third movie directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa, following his earlier movies "Drop" and "Manzai Gang". A high-speed storyline by a cast of unique actors, including Tatsuya Fujiwara, Ryuichi Kosugi, Koki Tanaka, and Mika Nakashima, is highly impressive.

“Grudge Match” depicts two old boxers, played by two of the biggest stars of their generation, 67-year-old Robert De Niro and 70-year-old Sylvester Stallone, pressuring themselves for the final match of their life.

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, directed and starred by the talented Ben Stiller, is a human drama that portrays an unexpected turning point befalling to the life of an ordinary and quiet man. The Japanese-dubbed version, starred by Takashi Okamura of Ninety-nine, will be screened.
