Summary

In present-day Aizu-Wakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture, there are only two workshops that produce the traditional craft of “Decorated Candles”, and the long-established “Saito” and “Hoshina” stores have been in competition for more than two hundred years.
Kenichi, who is the 10th generation of “Saito”, and Keiko of the “Hoshina” family have secretly fallen in love, but due to the conflicts between the two families it isn’t possible for them to bring up their plan to marry. But due to an unexpected turn of events, their relationship becomes known to their parents, and they become pulled apart. With the decorated candle festival approaching, what will become of their relationship!? This modern version of Romeo & Juliet unfolds against the backdrop of Aizu.

About Aizu-Wakamatasu

Aizu-Wakamatsu is positioned in the west of Fukushima prefecture, about 300km from Tokyo, and is a core city of the Aizu region with a population of 123,000 people.
Established as a castle town by the Aizu clan in the Edo era, it boasts a number of attractions and sites of interest such as Hanseizan and Tsuruga which symbolize the Boshin war and Byakkotai, and is famous for tourist resources such as the historical figure of Hideyo Noguchi etc.
There are also the traditional crafts such as Okiagarikoboshi and decorated candles, the atmospheres of the Higashiyama and Ashinomaki hot springs, some of the best in the Tohoku region, the rich natural environments of Mt. Meiho and Lake Inawashiro, and the beautiful colors in each of the four seasons, which make this a steadily growing tourist destination in the Northeast.
