2014.03.24 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival – The Figures!

With the festival over for another year, let’s take a look back at the facts and figures from the 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival, which was blessed by near constant sunshine and warmth throughout its five-day run.

While the festival was a concise 5 days compared to 8 in the last four editions, it nevertheless attracted 380,000, just short of the record 422,000 attendance for 2013. It therefore recorded the highest per day attendance so far, of 76,000 per day on average, across venues in Ginowan, Chatan Town, Urasoe City, Okinawa City and elsewhere.

This year was the first to present two red carpets, in Ginowan and Naha. Kokusai-dori in Naha saw an estimated 58,000 turnout on Sunday 23rd March, with 371 guests walking the 230 meter red carpet. 595 Guests walked the Ginowan red carpet on March 21.

The number of volunteers hit its highest level, with 335 (total man-days 607) topping last year’s total of 293 (547).

A record number of 154 media outlets and 356 journalists attended, including 46 international media outlets and 68 international journalists from the US, UK, France, Italy, Canada, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Israel, Lebanon, and Vietnam.

73 TV programs were recorded during the event, including 44 variety shows, 15 news sections and 14 PR shows. 169 Yoshimoto artists participated along with 228 guests, 38 models, 83 artists and 111 idols.
