Hirokazu Nakaima

For all attending the 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival from within Japan and overseas, “Mensore!”(Welcome). Thank you for coming to Okinawa. I would like to extend my warmest greetings.
The Okinawa International Movie Festival started in 2009, and I am deeply gratified to see it celebrate its 6th year this year. With a record 420,000 people visiting last year from within Okinawa and the rest of Japan and overseas, it truly had the feel of an international movie festival. I would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank everyone at Yoshimoto Kogyo and everyone else involved for all of their hard work.
Ahead of this 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival, and with the catch phrase of “All Things Great in All the Islands!”, events have been held throughout Okinawa, including panel exhibitions in municipal government buildings and tourist facilities in the prefecture, and the holding of tie-up pre-events in conjunction with local festivals, Also, such activities as the formation of Regional Support Groups in a number of municipalities will broaden the ties of citizens and give a boost to the movie festival throughout Okinawa.
Through this movie festival, professionals in the movie business, and movie fans come together once a year in Okinawa, together with the people of Okinawa, to be surrounded by the “Laughs” and “Peace” that we hope will spread throughout the world.
It is my hope that everyone that is visiting from outside of Okinawa, and from overseas, will take this opportunity to experience the rich nature, culture and music of Okinawa, and that you will fully enjoy this movie festival and feel all of the charms of Okinawa. It is my further hope as I offer this greeting to you, that the “6th Okinawa International Movie Festival” will be a wonderful success, and that everyone that participates will be filled with “laughter” and “peace and happiness”.
