6th Okinawa International Movie Festival

Haisai, gusu-yo, chu-uganabira(Hello, everyone, how are you all?).
I would like to congratulate the opening of the thriving 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to those who have been committed to the implementation , notably those from Yoshimoto Kogyo. At the beginning of my speech, I used the Okinawan dialect meaning “Hello, everyone ! ” Our city is involved in the movement of preserving the Okinawan dialect for later generations, an important heritage handed down from our forefathers. I hope that those attending the festival from all over the country as well as from overseas will also treasure their own languages, preserve them, and pass them down to your offsprings.OIMF celebrates under the theme of “All Things Great in All the Islands!”, will see an attempt to enjoy the “Laugh & Peace” movie festival at every corner of Okinawa prefec- ture with satellite venues set up at various places within the prefecture. The festival has got more regionally-rooted with each festival held, lead- ing to higher expectations for the movie festival to be deepening ties between many people.Naha City, as the second venue, has so far hosted various events related to the movie festival. At this year’s festival, the red carpet ceremony will be held on Kokusai Dori Street, with the coopera- tion of many parties concerned. I hope many of you will make your way to the venue and enjoy the movie festival to the fullest.In closing, I would like to wish for more successes for the OIMF and your smiles and hope for peace to spread to the world from Okinawa.Ippeh-nifeh-deh-biru (Thank you very much!).
