6th Okinawa International Movie Festival

Ladies and Gentlemen, For 5 years now, we have gathered in March to a spot where the sky and sea melt into each other under the romantic cherry trees, and we have shared happiness and peace with one another. As with other years, we have been able to greet the 6th “OIMF” with smiles and laughter this year as well. Through the internationally common language of film, we have closed some of the distance between ourselves and other people of the world. Through the act of all of you─film producers, tourists, and the like from many parts of the world, with skin of differing colors─enjoying this event with the local residents of Okinawa, we are able to return to the starting point of film production. Isn’t bringing laughter and peace to the world the greatest motivation for film producers? As a result of the long-held efforts of people from various industries and especially YOSHIMOTO KOGYO, OIMF receives sup- port from the entertainment world, the media, and more, and Okinawa, a location of scenic beauty, is able to garner the attention of the entire world. I believe that thanks to this movie festival, tourism in Okinawa has grown, and we have been able to promote cultural exchange with Asia and the entire world. Lastly, all of us at “Salon Films” hope that the 6th OIMF brings smiles to all of Japan, all of Asia, and the entire world, and that peace is promoted and this world is filled with love.
