Japanese Comedy/World Comedy
Also, the "Japanese Comedy/World Comedy" category has been around ever since the festival's inauguration, and it is the program derived from enthusiasm quite unique to the Okinawa International Movie Festival, which has been particular about "comedy".
This category will be produced, as in last year, by Tetsuo Takahira, who is active in many fields as theater director/editor/author.
If you watch an array of unique films selected by Mr. Takahira, who has worked on a number of legendary popular TV programs including "Oretachi Hyokin Zoku" and "Waratte Iitomo!", you may find yourself having a new comedic viewpoint.
Not only watching Japanese comedies but also comparing them to world comedies and others is a way of taking pleasure at the Okinawa International Movie Festival.

Sakurazaka Movie College
The popular program "Sakurazaka Movie College" will again be held this year at Sakurazaka Theater, the second venue of the Movie Festival.
This program is always well-received because of the enjoyable movie experience full of live feelings that it offers. Under the concept of "Movie Festival to join in!", special lecturers (guests) who are professional in their own fields such as actors, directors, film critics, musicians, and comedians give live audio commentaries during screening including episodes and inside stories related to the films.

Panorama Screening
"Panorama Screening", movies with a wide array of themes, regardless of the genre, will be screened. At this year's event, various movies including "Cold Fish" will be shown.
Deru-cine
“Deru-cine” is a unique movie screening program in which the audience can participate. The audience will experience the actual filming set as extras and watch their own "performance" afterwards.
The unique program which livened up last year's Movie Festival will come back for this year's event.
In addition to the venues at Ginowan and Naha where "Deru-cine" was put into practice last year, this year will see it happening at each regional venue of the Okinawa International Movie Festival. Let's enjoy together and share the pleasure of joining in the movies!

SoftBank presents Owarai (Comedy) LIFE Short Film Screening
This year's event will see another installment of a popular program “SoftBank presents Owarai (Comedy) LIFE Short Film Screening”, where short films produced at the “Short Film Channel”, a comedy content distribution service provided by SoftBank Mobile, will be screened. Many short films that have been directed by Yoshimoto comedians contain distinctive comic traits that do not fit within the conventional boundaries. Be sure to enjoy it.
