With the desire to further lift and build cooperation between the festival and the people of Okinawa, this Movie Festival, celebrating its sixth festival since its birth in 2009, has developed a variety of projects based around the theme of “All Things Great in All the Islands!”.
As part of this, the main poster for the festival, which serves as the face of the festival was created in a workshop between Okinawan illustrator pokke104 and 60 elementary school children that are the future of Okinawa. Pokke104 has gained popularity with designs based on motifs of traditional Okinawan crafts, plants and animals, and is an up-and-coming illustrator who was nominated as a Japanese artist under the Red Bull sponsored “Canvas Cooler Project”. Also, enjoyable workshops for parents and children have been held inside and outside of the prefecture, through which participants have been able to share the joy of painting.
This work features a collage made up of illustrations by elementary school students, and the images of the Okinawa International Movie Festival which were previously prepared by pokke104, to create a single coherent work. This poster will decorate all over the venues, not only at the main venue but also throuhgout Okinawa prefecture.
