6th Okinawa International Movie Festival

The 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival will be held while attempting to further tighten bonds with many of the local Okinawans and adopting “the Okinawa International Movie Festival that can be enjoyed together” with those coming over to Okinawa as one of the important themes. I would like to express my deep gratitude to those concerned who have been committed to the implementation of the festival.
This year’s theme for tourism in Okinawa is “Forward, upward, and to the future: a new sensation of tourism in Okinawa!”, vigorously pro- moting tourism in Okinawa, which can flexibly cope with a variety of changes.
Similarly, the 6th Okinawa International Movie Festival strives for closer cooperation with regions as well as for collaboration with vari- ous industries other than the tourism sector. In the system of “All Okinawa”, the festival will be held aiming for further evolution as a “festival of cross-field entertainment”, with a variety of programs, including unprecedented local Okinawan contents, welcoming visitors from all over the country and from overseas.
The main theme of this year’s movie festival is “All Things Great in All the Islands!” I believe that this theme will lead to further revitalize tour- ism in Okinawa with each Okinawan holding onto the spirits when welcoming visitors.
Let us together transmit attractions of Okinawa to the whole world from these tiny “islands”.
