On the 3rd day of the 6th International Movie Festival, Saturday 22nd March, “Chura-ii Girls Up! Stage” was held at the Beach Stage, specially constructed at the Tropical Beach in Ginowan city, Okinawa.
The main event at the fashion show saw some of Japan’s most famous celebrity models walk the runway on the Beach Stage.
This Year, a collaboration project “Okinawa Kawaii Stage” together with Asobi System aimed to send out Japanese “Kawaii (cute)” to the world. Expanding from fashion, the show was billed as a girl’s entertainment event showcasing hair and make up, comedy and music shows, for a multi-combination event.
The show began with the collection of “Punyus” produced by comedian Naomi Watanabe. Comedians “Women Rush Hour”, TV star “Ayaman Japan” and a parade of models followed with the “Kariyushi Collection,” introducing Okinawa-style clothes known as “Kariyushi wear”. The “Resort Collection” with a theme of Resort fashion then took place, with models including Akemi Darenogare.
Besides the fashion show, character shows, music performances and comedy shows were held. Up and coming idols group “Rev. from DVL”, well-known group “NMB48” and musician Natsuko Kondo performed. Comedy groups such as Jaru Jaru, Robert and Women Rush Hour also had shows on the huge Beach Stage.
For the finale, all the models and comedians walked the runway together.
