6th Okinawa International Movie Festival

 The “Creator’s Factory” is a project which aims to uncover “the next generation of creative artists.” If it’s a moving image, regardless of running time, category, or genre, such as live action, animation etc., the best new artists will be selected from among the staff that work on video production, including directors, cameraman, actors, actresses, and musicians.

The winner of the top award will be provided with the full support of Yoshimoto Kogyo for their next production.

The guideline of the application for “Creator’s Factory”

I. Overview of Movie Festival

(1) Name: 6^th Okinawa International Movie Festival

(2) Host: Okinawa International Movie Festival Executive Committee

(3) Operations Management: Yoshimoto Laugh & Peace Co.,Ltd.

(4) Date: Thursday 20^th to Monday 24^th March, 2014

(5) Location: Okinawa Convention Center and surrounding area, Ginowan City, Okinawa Prefecture, Sakurazaka Theater and area around Kokusai-dori, Naha City Various locations in Okinawa Prefecture including Chatan-cho

(6) Creator’s Factory: The selected works through the first cut will be screened at OIMF. A jury and judge will choose the award winner. 

II “Creator’s Factory” Application Outline

1.      The conditions of application

Anyone can apply, according to the following conditions.

1 You need to send your complete work by DVD.

2 You need to prepare your work for screening in HD-CAM, BD or DVD.

2.             How to apply

(1)  Post: Send your DVD by post mail. We will not return your DVD. You need to send the application form and materials, including the summary and description of the work, together with the DVD.

(2)  Postage: The applicant to pay the postage to the secretariat.

(3)  Address: Okinawa International Movie Festival secretariat “Creator’s Factory” Shinjyuku 5-18-21, Shinjyuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan 160-0022

(4)  The management of the works: The promoter is not responsible in case of an accident such as the loss or breakage of DVDs before arrival.

(5)  Promotion: The promoter will use the description and PR materials of the work for the promotion of the movie festival, including for TV, newspapers, magazines and the internet, with the agreement of the applicants. 

3.             The application must arrive no later than 28^th February 2014.

III. The selection and screening of the films

1.             Select progress: The selection committee will judge impartially based on the bylaws of the Okinawa International Movie Festival. 

2.             The announcement of the screening: The promoter will announce to the selected applicant’s contact as written in the entry form immediately after the selection has been decided.

3.             The dispatch: The selected applicant who receives the announcement of the screening must send the work by the appropriate form (HD-CAM, BD or DVD) to the secretariat no later than the day the promoter decided. Applicants to pay the shipment and insurance fees. 

4.             The promoter will decide the members of the selection committee based on the bylaws of the 6^th Okinawa International Movie Festival.

IV. The Judging of the Awards

The following awards will be selected from a review of screened films, in accordance with the regulations of the Okinawa International Movie Festival.

(1) For the winner of the Best New Artist award, Yoshimoto Kogyo will provide full support for their next piece of work.



V. Others

1. The original agreement in Japanese has priority than other language translations.

2. In terms of sending the application to the movie festival, this Agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, and in case of dispute, the promoters and the applicants will follow the Tokyo district court as the jurisdiction court of a first-instance trial.

3. The applicants will be considered as having accepted the agreement when the works arrive at the secretariat.

4. The selected applicants cannot cancel the screening after the announcement.

5. Any third party (for example, in case of other screenings or broadcast of materials decided separately) will not be covered by this agreement.
